Adachi Zenko, the museum's founder, traveled all over Japan collecting pine trees and rocks, putting his heart and soul into the creation of each garden. There are six gardens, with about 165,000 square meters (1,776,060 square feet) in total.--Adachi Museum of Art website. Note: Borrowed scenery (shakkei,借景) is the method of incorporating a distant vista into the composition of a garden, often seen in traditional Japanese garden design.-- Jaanus on-line Dictionary of Japanese Architectural and Art Historical Terminology.
