Description Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was developed in 1991 and is rapidly gaining acceptance as a diagnostic imaging tool in ophthalmology.[1, 2] OCT operates analogously to ultrasound B mode imaging, except that it generates high resolution images by measuring the echo time delay of reflected light rather than sound. In ophthalmology, OCT enables non-contact, high-resolution, cross-sectional imaging of the retina and anterior eye.
