Description |
Dopamine (DA) is a neuro-modulator in mammalian visual system involved in chromatic processing and in contrast sensitivity resolution due to the modulating activity on cone-horizontal cells transmission. Styrene is an antidopaminergic compound mainly used in the manufacture of glass-fiber reinforced plastics. Acquired dyschromatopsia and contrast sensitivity impairment have been described among styrene-exposed workers. The present study has been designed to test the hypothesis that dopaminergic amacrine cells represent a vulnerable target after chronic styrene exposure. |
