The bacteria comprising the genus Corynebacterium are nonspore-forming, unencapsulated, nonmotile, pleomorphic gram-positive bacilli. The most common human pathogenic species is C. diphtheriae; however, other species of corynebacteria are more commonly associated withinfection in the CNS. |
