Comment |
Benjamin Brown, seen at age 30. Beginning in 1911, Brown (nee Lipshitz) served as leader of the Clarion Colony in Sanpete County, Utah. "In 1923, Benjamin Brown and three others formed the Central Utah Poultry Exchange, originally for chicken and egg production, but which gradually included turkey growers. The Central Utah Poultry Exchange morphed into the Utah Poultry Producers Cooperative Association, which in turn became Intermountain Farmers Association." -- from Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area press release. Brown later returned to the east coast where he conceived and planned the Jersey Homesteads in New Jersey, 1936-1937. |
