Correspondence related to an address by Marriner S. Eccles at the 17th Biennial Congress of the Cooperative League of the U.S.A., Chicago, October 12, 1950

Scans of letters to and from Federal Reserve member Marriner S. Eccles regarding an extemporaneous address at the 17th Biennial Congress of the Cooperative League of the U.S.A. in Chicago on 12 October 1950. The letters were from the weeks following the event, thanking Eccles for his speech and often asking for copies. Since there were no copies to share, Eccles instead sent a copy of the press release that summarizes the talk. Includes an exchange of letters between Eccles and G. M. Lester, President of the National Tax Equity Association (NTEA) from October 1950 to February of 1951. The latter sent three items that are here: a printed pamphlet (13 pages) by the National Tax Equity Association (NTEA) entitled "How cooperatives escape the income tax"; a printed essay by Albert W. Adcock entitled Patronage dividends: income distribution or price adjustment," reprinted from the symposium on cooperatives published as the Summer, 1948, issue of Law and Contemporary Problems by the Duke University Law School, pages 505 to 525; and a typescript (6 pages) also from the NTEA, entitled "How partnerships are taxed."
