Software: Microsoft Campus Agreement Renewal by Craig Bennion, OIT Microsoft campus agreement is changing - must renew under a whole new license. Higher Ed will institute the license, member institutions will enroll under that. June vs. July for enrollment. Microsoft incentive is an additional 8% off to enroll in June. FrontPage and VisualStudio.net will be dropped (although someone wanted it back in); OneNote may be added. LiveCommunications would be an additional cost, add'tl CAL. We can do things as an entire university, or departments can license just one piece (at an additional cost over the desktop bundle). Departments that would like software other than the software included in the desktop bundle can enroll in the campus agreement individually and add that software just for their department. Suggested add: Project. Craig: Visio and Project are the two big products that people want - must be added on top of the desktop bundle (additional cost). Price went down this year, about $47 (old license is $53). (Select pricing is about $185 for components . . . decide on your computing environment, what is most economical). If you are on the campus agreement and drop out of the program, your right to use the licensed software ends and you must purchase the software. Office 12/2007 to be released in November. Vista for the U is the enterprise version, will include Virtual PC, in January. Kevin has a document describing the Microsoft program including how it works with FTE for departments. Informal poll: maybe 20% are using the Microsoft campus agreement.
