Show A large photograph of the Westminster College Freshman Class of 1917-1918; consisting of eight women and four men. The small group stands on the entrance steps to Converse Hall in a three row formation. The men stand in the back row and the women stand in the two rows in front of the men. The men are dressed in dark suit coats with light colored shirts and long neck ties. Their hairstyles are either combed straight back or combed to the side. The women are dressed in a variety of light and dark colored blouses, skirts or dresses, which are either patterned or conservative. Some of the women wear bows or ribbons in their hair. The front row (consisting of four women) is wearing light and dark colored shoes. The woman second from the right appears to be wearing light colored hosiery. |
Further Information |
The photograph is in fair condition. It has a small tear on the bottom left hand side, probably caused from being torn off the cardboard backing of which it was glued to for many years. Some of the edges appear to be worn and nicked by age and handling. The front of the photograph is free of any marks; however, there is a white border at the bottom which appears to be development related. The sides also seem to have been trimmed to expel this white border. A development specification tag is glued to the back of the photograph, which gives categories for dimension and a description area. In the description area written in pencil is the following: "Westminster College [,] Freshman, page 42 [,] 4 ½ x 7." On the rest of the backside is glue stains from the cardboard backing it was glued to. The name, "Paul Giberson" is also written vertically in pencil along the upper right hand edge. The cardboard backing the photograph was once glued to identified the photograph as, " Students 19 |
