Description Civilization is a relative term used to denote the fact that man has become more or less a responsible being, belonging to society and serving and contributing toward the welfare of it. The country with the greatest number of reforms benefiting society is the most civilized. Evolution of civilization takes place when new reforms are accepted by the majority. Reforms are natural results of a given situation which stimulates people into action to solve the difficulty. They are not isolated or separate from the past. Reforms cover a period of time and may only terminate decades or even centuries later. One reform serves as a foundation for another generation. The problem chosen is to find the connection between the society and the advancement of the standing of women in civilization. History shows this progress. For convenience the subject has been divided into six main topics, which will be treated in the following manner. 1 . A brief sketch of the history of women down to the present time. 2. Development of public opinion concerning women. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE EVOLUTION OF SOCIETY AND THE STATUS OF WOMAN 3. The growth and development of coeducation. 4. History of the suffrage movement in the United States. 5. Woman in the industrial world. 6 .Conclusion. The material used has been gotten from many sources as the bibliography indicates.
