Description Cerebellar signs considered to be falsely localizing were present in 39 of the cases reviewed by Gassel. In 25 patients, the signs were contralateral to the tumor, whereas in two patients, the signs were ipsilateral. Twelve patients had bilateral cerebellar signs. Posterior fossa tumors produce a majority of the signs that may falsely localize, but signs suggesting a posterior fossa tumor may occur with tumors located at any site above the tentorium, such as nystagmus and ataxia occurring with frontal lobe tumors.
