Samuel M. (S.M.) Browne was a prominent citizen in the Vernal area. He was a businessman owning several saloons and owned an amusement hall. He helped to get Vernal incorporated as a city. He was made the first mayor of Vernal which he held the position from 1896 to 1899. He was the president of the telephone-telegraph company. He was married to Kate Maria Ashton in 1885. He was born in 1852 and died June 20, 1916. |
