Eyes to Light 1s the title of a music album I have written, recorded, and produced. The concept of the album is a consciousness that isn't aware of anything but its own internal monologue and its yearning for light and sense after not having it for so long. To portray this consciousness and its desire for light, I am using a pipe that has since been buried beneath the city and have recorded concrete music samples from this pipe at a construction site many moons ago. These samples are included in the album as well as a monologue by my personified pipe in the opening track. In order to express the main areas of study through a multidisciplinary major, I have portrayed computer music production through the music tracks, film photography with the album art, graphic design with the CD layout, and writing with the opening monologue and supplementary lyrics to the tracks. The question I raised for this album is whether or not electronic music can create sounds into a new self-language. Can we as humans find a way to hear nothing but an individual projected reality and reflect that back to other people in the form of music?
