Description |
Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) is a challenging cause of preventable blindness. This condition is characterized by increased cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the skull leading to damage of the optic nerve and disc. Currently, initial IIH management focuses on decreasing CSF production via medications while emergent cases require surgical intervention. Although weight loss has been associated with improved outcomes in IIH, a multidisciplinary approach involving neurology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, and bariatrics has not been reviewed. In addition, no study has shown an association between weight loss and vision outcomes. |
