The program is for 4th - 6th graders over 8 weeks its purpose is to cultivate interest in sciences, promote higher education and develop leaders. There is a need for increasing representation of minortized communities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, which can be achieved through program that are conscious; of social issues that marginalize these communities. Populations at this school and city are minortized this program through its structure addresses these needs. It has been developed to not only teach core science concepts but skills to ensure success in life. SAAE has been successfully implemented one year, and will be facilitated by mentors from the University of Utah LEAP 1500 course that will sustain this program beginning spring of 2015. This ISP is built through a collaborative approach were all partners voice is heard and mutual benefits are received. This program has allowed me to build my own voice as a community leader and empowers future community leaders leaving a long-term impact on the communities involved.
