Show This photograph is a portrait of Frances Burke, a Presbyterian teacher. Miss Burke is dressed in a dark top with a high collar and intricate detail. At the collar she has a decorative chain attached that hangs a few inches down the front of her top. Her hair is parted in the middle and pulled back behind her head. She is wearing what appear to be pearl earrings. She is looking slightly away from the camera and is not smiling. The photograph is matted onto a rectangular mat with rounded corners and gold trim around the edges. On the front of the mat below the picture, "Gaites," "Superior Finish," and "Macomb Illinois" are embossed in gold. |

The entire backside of the photograph is decorated with gold including a border and the symbol for "H.W. Gaites Artistic Photography." On the back written in gold is "Instantaneous portraits of children a successful specialty," and at the bottom also written in gold is, "Duplicates can be procured at any time." The only handwriting on the photo is on the back in pencil and reads, "Frances Burke Presbyterian Teacher; Toquerville, Utah."
