Description Early development of the Clear Creek. Tents were the first dwellings of settlers in this area. In 1899 the railroad was completed. Established in the 1870s, Clear Creek began as a harvest point for mine props (made from timber). In 1898 a vein of coal was uncovered and the town grew into a full mining town. By the mid-1950s, the town began to decline. Some homes in the area have been renovated as summer homes and are very popular during deer season.
