Grace Englund captured second in the 400-meter dash to lead the Utah women's track and field team at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational on Friday afternoon. The Utes were led by Grace Englund's performance in the 400. Englund, recorded a time of 56.63 seconds to capture second overall. True freshman Caitie Faust also performed well, placing 12th with a time of 59.17 seconds.The heptathlon featured two Utes placing in the top three. Leading the way was freshman Lauren McCluskey in second, with a total of 4268 points. Sophomore Madison Lanford finished right behind McCluskey in third with 4235 points, after recording lifetime bests in six of the seven events. Junior Alissa Atisme earned fifth in the 200 with a time of 24.85 seconds. Also racing was Allison Aafedt (17th, 25.92) and Mesa Weidle (27th, 26.70). Atisme returned to the track to compete in the 100-meter dash, placing 16th with a time of 12.56 seconds. Rayne Helm finished 34th overall, followed by Makenzie Arnold in 55th.Competing in the last event of the day for the Utes was junior Christine Van Brocklin in the 100-meter hurdles. Van Brocklin posted a time of 14.93 seconds to earn sixth overall. |
