S.L.C. - North Temple and South Temple P.1

Sketch of the property of Apostle Anthon H. Lund and the immediate neighborhood at the corner of West Temple and North Temple Streets. At the lowermost corner of the sketch is the barnyard with the barn and chicken-house; farther back is the garden with berry bushes and a grape arbor; facing West Temple is the home with its two-story back porch. Next door is represented the property of Apostle Matthew Cowley. Next is the duplex house in which lived Uncle Anthony C. Lund and his family for several years. At the corner is the house built by Moses Thatcher. Uncle Henry C. Lund and his family lived here at the time related in the article (see UHQ, Winter 1967). North Temple Street crosses the sketch from upper left to lower right. City Creek was an open trench down the middle of the street running under West Temple Street at the intersection. I believe the large barn with the cupola was called the Clayton barn. Inaccuracies are inherent in the sketch since it was made from memory." Dr. H. Z. Lund (artist).
