Central part of the Buddhist temple located on the south shore of Amanohashidate, showing the building in which the celebrated Monju Bosatsu (the "goddess" of wisdom, education and intelligence) is ensconced, one of three selected locations in Japan. The statue is usually not available for public viewing. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sand spit whose name means: bridge to heaven. |
