Green River Bridge -- Bridges |
Description |
Green River Bridge, side view in the winter. In the fall of 1909 the steel was hauled from Dragon to Jensen by team and wagons, through mud almost to the axle of their wagons. About the middle of January 1910, the contractors commenced work and started to dig the hole for the west pier and immediately put the logs down in the sand, then laid the steel on to it and bolted it together. This was completed before the high water came in the spring. The bridge was built all but the small span on the east side because engineer made a small mistake in measuring the distance. It was completed by July 24, 1911 for the Bridge Day celebration. |
