The Silver Star Mine at Park City has a colorful history besides mining. It was used in 1964 and 1965 as the "Skier Subway", likely one of the most unique ski lifts in the history of the sport. Skiers would enter into the mine in specially modified train cars that would take them three miles into the tunnel where an elevator (lift, in mine terms) would bring them to the surface and they would ski down. The tunnel was also used as a tourist attraction during the early 1970's, much in the same way as the now-defunct Park City Silver Mine Adventure |
