Description | The community of Jensen, Utah and DUP Escalante Camp, Uintah Company, Jensen, Utah, celebrated the dedication of the new First School in Jensen, Marker 585, during the year of 2019. Beginning in 1881, Lydia Chatwin, at the age of 13, taught local children in three-room of a log house. Sixteen of her decendants attended the deedication along with state and county leaders Scott Chew, Uintah County Utah State House Representative, and Brad Horrocks, Uintah County Commissioner, Lucky Wall, great great grandson of Lydia offered the dedicatory prayer. Members of the Escalante Camp brought this project to fruition. |
