Description |
This wasterly looking view of the gap in the rails was taken on the morning of May 10. Note the CentralPacific cars on a siding in the middle distance. Dimensions for the heighth of the Central Pacific telegraph poles, the flag, and the flagpole were scaled from this photograph. The known dimension used for scaling was the length of the telegraph crossarm. The last Gap before driving the Golden Spike, May 10, 1869. Gift of M.J.Burson. |
