The Utes were led by standout sophomore Amanda Mergaert's ninth-place finish. The Utes tallied 307 points, which earned them 12th overall. Utah finished six points ahead of New Mexico State University (313). The overall winner of the meet was New Mexico with 53 points. Mergaert completed the course with a new personal record time of 20:45.2 (9th). Her time was faster than the previous course record (20:52.7). Mergaert's effort qualified her for the NCAA Championships which will be held on Nov. 22. Finishing second for the Utes was sophomore Jenny McCune. She posted a time of 22:03.3 (52nd). McCune set a new personal record by more than 17 seconds. |
