This photograph is in good condition, except for worn corners. On the back the following information appears hand written in pencil: "size of sampler" which is underlined. Under that appears, "133 ? 3/447/8" and "Arrowe Press". On the bottom of the back of the photograph, "Dr. Clarence E. Macartney" is stamped in blue ink. Under the stamped name, "Philadelphia, Pa." is written in black pen. Macartney was an ardent Fundamentalist. He held many prestigious positions in the Presbyterian Church. At one time he was the pastor of the Arch Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and a member of Princeton Seminary's board of directors. He was also a prolific writer. |
