| Description |
Photograph of Captain Royal Leonard Westbrook (1818-1878). He was appointed second lieutenant in the Second California Cavalry in 1862 and promoted to first lieutenant the following year. He arrived at Camp Douglas in September 1863 and was promoted to Captain and Acting Quartermaster General two months later. He was stationed at Fort Bridger from March to August 1864 before returning to Camp Douglas. He was sent to Denver in 1865 and later Omaha Barracks in Nebraska. |
