Topics include: Growing up in Spanish Fork and moving to Fairview as a young widow and mother to be near in-laws because of safety concerns in Spanish Fork; Losing her husband in World War I; Family and friends in Fairview who welcomed her; Soldiers leaving on a train to fight in World War I; A second marriage; Missionary service for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Enjoying interests such as painting and music; Leading a church choir for twenty years; Working as a librarian and serving as City Treasurer; Adoption of a daughter; Loss of her second husband; Her son's and grandson's missionary service in Norway; Being very satisfied with her move to Fairview and appreciating of all her family and friends; An accident that handicapped her: Staying home most of the time after the accident; Living a long life and somewhat lonely life, but being happy where she is at. (Note: Ellen's adopted daughter, Ruth was killed in an automobile accident as a teenager on September 21, 1942. When Ellen is prompted to talk about Ruth, she responds: "I don't want to talk about it").
