It's 6:30 in the morning. The alarm goes off, you take a shower, get dressed, and then you go to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast before heading to work. For an overwhelming majority of Americans, the next step in the routine is a 30-minute drive, alone, in your car. You sit in traffic on a crowded arterial, toll road, and/or highway, in the company of thousands of other people driving alone, together.
