| Description |
A combination of impaired reading and writing with relatively intact oral and auditory language function constitutes alexia with agraphia. This is associated with lesions of the left angular gyrus, although lesions of the adjacent temporoparietal junction have also been implicated. Little is known about this unusual disorder. In keeping with the parietal location, alexia with agraphia may be accompanied by acalculia, rightleft disorientation, and finger agnosia, the other elements of Gerstmanns syndrome. Broca's aphasia. Literal alexia. Letter blindness. |
