Description Scan of letters sent to Marriner S. Eccles, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, following his speech given in Saint Louis on November 9, 1939, and replies by Eccles or his staff. Many of these letters were in response to news coverage of the event, and sometimes were sent with copies of articles and writings giving different views on the question of monetary policy. One of the enclosures is a copy of pages from the Congressional Record containing a speech by Congressman David J. Lewis of Maryland given July 6, 1937.
