Creator Good, William V
Subject Neurobehavioral; Neuro-Ophthalmologic; Children; Blindism; Blinding Retinal Disease
Description Ablindism is a stereotyped, repetitive behavior in a visually impaired child. Blind isms are not random behaviors. Rather, they are neurobehavioral adaptations to vision impairment. In some cases, blindisms have neuro-ophthalmologic localizing value. The purpose of this paper is to familiarize neuro-ophthalmologists with blindisms and to introduce several newly discovered behavioral, localizing adaptations.
