Description |
The posterior layer of the iris epithelium is heavily pigmented and the anterior layer has reduced pigment when compared to the epithelium of the ciliary body. The anterior portion of each anterior layer cell is modified to collectively form the dilator muscle of the pupil (under sympathetic innervation). Identify this muscular portion of the anterior layer, as well as the pigmented portion of the anterior layer. UCLA Histology Collection. |
