Urban nomads: laws, lived experiences, and response strategies |

Description |
Walk down a city block in most major cities in the United States and you are likely to find at least one individual experiencing homelessness. Around 2 out of every thousand people in America are homeless on any given night. This accounts for 326,126 sheltered, and at least 49,663 unsheltered individuals as of the January 2021 Point in Time Homelessness Count (US HUD, 2021) Less than half of US cities conduct an unsheltered homelessness count so that count likely is a drastic undercount of unsheltered homelessness. However, they did indicate that around 20% of their homeless population was unsheltered, again a likely underestimate. |
