Topics include: Biographical information such as parents and date of birth; Herding cows in the summer; Growing up near Moroni and Wales; Not attending school regularly; Raising sugar beets and hay; Feeling the need to wander; Working in the mines in Eureka; Purchasing his first car; Working on a cattle ranch; Breaking horses and mules in Iadaho and Oregon; Working on ranches, picking potates, and topping sugar beets in Idaho; His father's immigration story from Denmark; His maternal granparents walking from New York to Utah across the plains; Meeting his wife and marrying in secret in Weiser, Idaho; Starting a family; Working in a butcher shop; Working as an inspector of rail lines for Union Pacific; Being drafted into the Army with six kids after WWII started; Finding his wife had paid off the mortgage for their house with his army salary while he was away; Moving to back Utah to be closer to and help his mother; Trying to farm, but giving it up to work on the drilling rigs; Hauling freight to the East and Hogs to the West; Getting out of the trucking business after a brake line went out; Eventually having fifteen children; Animals he had over the years such as horses, beef cattle, milk cows, and sheep; Growing up during the Great Depression; Always having enough food, but never enough cash; Trading butter to a boarding house for food scraps for their pigs; Driving his Father's Model T as a child and getting in trouble; Attending funeral in Idaho and pulling a camping trailer to Oregon for a family reunion. |
