Some observations of the current economic and political scene

Eccles delivered on 10 December 1957 at the annual awards banquet of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in Chicago, along with a press release with a digest of the talk, a list of recipients of copies of the press release, a printed version of the statement printed in the Congressional Record; a copy of the program for the AICh.E meeting; correspondence arranging for Eccles's appearance at the meeting; and further correspondence following the meeting. In addition to discussing the domestic economic situation and the need to avoid inflation, Eccles's talk warned of the danger of war under the current foreign policy and the need for peaceful co-existence between the Western and Communist world, including China.
