The Utes began the second day of action with a couple impressive performances in the shot put. Redshirt senior Destanae Howerton-Davis qualified for the final round, where she threw a distance of 14.69 meters to capture sixth. Sophomore Kassie Nagel also competed for the Utes and placed 15th overall with a throw of 13.36 meters. Freshman Michelle Norman competed in the triple jump for the first time in her collegiate career. Norman leaped a distance of 11.78 meters to earn fourth overall. The 400-meter run featured three Utes competing. Sophomore Rhianna Williams led the way for the Utes with a fourth-place time of 55.09 seconds. Grace Englund crossed the line second for the Utes and 28th overall with a time of 57.30 seconds. Mesa Weidle placed 41st with a time of 58.27 seconds. Every Ute who competed in the mile recorded season-best performance. Highlighting this group was true freshman Sarah Feeny's time of 4:44.50 to earn 20th overall. Redshirt freshman Hannah McInturff finished next for the Utes and 35th overall. McInturff's time of 4:49.61 was not only her season best time, but also a lifetime best in the event. Nikki Rietz ran a time of 4:53.80 to finish 49th. In the 3,000-meter race, Jessica Sams represented the Utes, crossing the line in 48th with a one-second personal record time of 9:42.64. Sophomore Christine Van Brocklin clocked a time of 9.25 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to earn 26th. |
