As our environment becomes increasingly mediated, so does our experience. My work is a direct response to an overmediated enviroment. Through mediation, our experience becomes fragmented. I am exploring the role of photography in the process of fragmentation and the way we construct meaning from our experience. I am treating photography as a language. I am manipulating the grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of photography to explore the ideas of memory, experience, and fragmentation. My work confronts the modern idea of photography and its ability to form clear and concise meaning. By doing so, my work is postmodern. |
