John Naber, Swimming '76 4-time Gold Medalist at the U.S. Olympic Spirit Award Press Conference at the Utah! Media Center in the Salt Palace Convention Center during the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics. The U.S. Olympic Spirit Award recognizes U.S. athletes who best exemplify the spirit of Olympic competition - not necessarily through their victories, but rather through the courage, dedication and determination they demonstrate in the Olympic arena. 2002 Winter Games the award was presented to bronze medalist Chris Klug (skiing/parallel giant slalom) and the 2002 gold medal winning U.S. Women's Bobsled Team of Jill Bakken and Vonetta Flowers. Sarah Will, veteran Alpine Paralympic skier and the entire U.S. sled hockey team were named U.S. Olympic Spirit Award winners in recognition of their courage and determination throughout the 2002 Paralympic Games. |
