Collection Overview +/-
Collection Inventory +/-Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-The Westminster College School of Arts and Sciences produces a newsletter each Fall and Spring semester, and a student achievement newsletter each Summer. The A&S newsletters are designed to give information on new faculty and staff, faculty program involvement, students, and events of importance to the A&S community. Content Description +/-Arts & Sciences student achievement newsletter: This collection consists of issues of the Arts & Sciences student newsletter created by the School of Arts and Sciences, Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. The materials date 2005-2013. The newsletter highlights student research, presentations, awards and honors. It also announces student campus involvement (elected to the student body council for instance) and "moving on" (graduating student going into M.A., M.B.A., or Ph.D programs elsewhere or at Westminster College, leaving to attend medical or pharmacy schools, going into the Peace Corp, etc.). This periodical has a frequency of one issue each year (Summer), issued either in July or August. The first newsletter in the collection (Number 1, Summer 2008) has a banner "Westminster College" and the title "Arts & Sciences, Summer 2005, Student Achievement Newsletter". It is dated August 2005. The format of the newsletters is generally a brief message from the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, followed by news of student accomplishments arranged by program (A-Z by discipline). The dean's message is signed by Dean Mary Jane Chase from Summer 2005-2012. The Summer 2013 issue is signed by Dean Lisa Gentile. The collection includes both issues as printed, and photocopies in some cases. Both formats are held for some issues and for other issues only one or the other. Gaps in the collection: lacking a paper copy of Summer 2010, Number 6 issue. Collection Use +/-Restrictions on Access: Open to public research.
