Description |
Thus far, we have discussed the process of accommodation in terms of a motor system acting upon an effector organ, the ciliary muscle. We now consider this motor mechanism in terms of its integrated role in the process of vision. Accommodation is controlled by visual sensory inputs and cerebral inputs that drive and monitor the motor output system. We will examine the control mechanism of accommodation in terms of the performance characteristics of the system. Stimuli to accomodate. Time characteristics of accommodation. Relation between pupil size and accommodation. Stability of accomodation. Feedback control of accommodation. Interocular effects on accommodation. Relation between accommodation and convergence. Changes in accommodation with age. Accommodation in infants. Calculation of accommodation with age. Presbyopia. |
