Naughton) - #3 - This 8,000 kilowatt Jordan generator driven by a steam turbine, operated at 215 pounds of pressure and 600 degrees temperature, was modern for the times. It produced a kilowatt-hour of electricity from two and one-half pounds of coal. |

The original Jordan Steam Station was built in 1903 on the east side of the Jordan River near downtown Salt Lake City, and was replaced in 1911. The plant shown in these photos was in turn replaced ca. 1924, and that one was in turn replaced by the Gadsby Jordan plant, built just to the west in the 1950s |
