Description |
Ventral horn motor neurons are large and multipolar. They have a pale staining nucleus with widely dispersed chromatin and a prominent nucleolus. The cytoplasm of the cell bodies are filled with rough ER (called Nissl bodies), one of the major characteristics of these neurons. Note that with this stain myelinated axons are blue and glial nuclei are red. Also identify dendrites and glial cells. UCLA Histology Collection. |
