Description |
Jane Rich along with her sons, built the Cottage Hotel near where their log cabin was located in the late 1800's. It was situated on the north west corner of 100 North and Vernal Avenue. It was across the street from the Uintah Railway station and stage stop. This made it convenient for visitors traveling by stage line. The building was a hotel and boarding house. It had four rooms and a kitchen on the ground floor and five rooms upstairs. The oversized landing at the top of the stairs served as a living room where guests sat around a potbellied stove and shared stories. The hotel was plush for its day because of the hand carved woodwork, . The property remained in the Rich family for six generations. It was demolished in 1977. |
