Show A studio portrait of a very young Frances Rosilla Burke, a Presbyterian missionary in Toquerville, Utah. This upper torso and head shot features Burke dressed in a dark colored button up dress with a light colored collar the folds down over the dress neck line. A dark cross is fastened around her neck by a dark colored ribbon. Burke's hair is parted in the middle with the sides flaring out and the rest of her hair pulled up in the back. Her head is turned and she is looking away from the camera. The photograph is oval and the background is a semi-dark colored studio backdrop. |

This photograph is in good condition. It was professionally taken and is attached to a hard cream colored cardboard mat with a gold colored border line around the actual photograph. On the back of the photograph is the name of the photographer who took the professional studio photograph: "Howland, 72 & 74 West 5th Street, Fountain Square, Cincinnati, Ohio [,] No." Written in pencil is the name, "Miss Burke." Burke was a Presbyterian missionary for many years in Toquerville, Utah. The archives in the Giovale Library, at Westminster College, have eighteen materials about Burke including information about her adoption, her postmaster certificate, and her obituary.
