Description |
Moral injury (MI) and moral distress (MD) are terms that describe the multivalent consequences of involvement in events that conflict with deeply held values and moral beliefs. MI and MD cause serious and severe long-term consequences, such as burnout, substance abuse, and even loss of life meaning, yet physicians at large are unfamiliar with how to recognize and act on MI and MD. This two-part in person training took place in regularly scheduled didactic time for neurology residents, who reported improvements in confidence in identifying and dealing with MI and MD, as well as an appreciation for a forum to discuss the moral and ethical dimensions of their experiences. |
