Show A high angle group photograph of nineteen young women who consisted of the Westminster College Girl's Glee Club of the 1917-1918 academic year. The young women are for the most part wearing light colored blouses and dark colored skirts. There are a few exceptions: two young women are wearing full dark dresses on the right hand side and the woman standing behind the banner is wearing a dark outfit, but she is concealed too much to ascertain whether it is a full dress or blouse. Some of the women are wearing scarfs around their necks. All the women have their heads uncovered and some have ribbons tied around their heads. The women are standing in formation of a letter "W." The two women who stand at the bottom half of the conjoining axis of the letter "W" are holding a banner which reads, "Westminster College." The group is standing in a wide open grassy field. The background is hazy, but there are quite a few houses, trees, and a few telegraph or telephone poles in the distance. Judgin |
Further Information |
The photograph is in fair condition. It has been removed from being glued to a hard cardboard backing. However, there are no glue stains on the back. The only handwritten marks on the front is the word, "(over)." On the back is written, "What is this?" and both markings are written in ink. A light colored dot or stain is on the front upper left hand side of the photograph. The edges are worn and tape remnants from the cardboard backing can be seen. The photograph has been removed from a cardboard backing. A label attached to the cardboard backing on the front above the photograph identified the photograph as the, "RE PI GIRLS GLEE CLUB 1917." The photograph also appears in the 1918 Etosian and is identified as the, "Girls' Glee Club." The Etosian lists the name of the young women, but not in correlation to the photograph. The Estonian lists the women's name a two column layout as follows: (First Column) Elizabeth Gillilan, Winnie Esterak, Marguerite Bellinger, Ada Goodale, Flora |
