Title Perception is Reality
Date 2020
Description Reality, or at least how it is individually experienced, is framed by our perceptions, which are constantly changing. As new experiences occur, and memories begin to fade, our view of the present and future alter. In this paper, I will discuss how the medium of digital sculpture and its process-language act as a metaphor in my artwork for these shifting perceptions of reality. The processes, methods, and influences that led to both the conceptual and aesthetic identity of my work will be addressed. This will culminate in statements for each piece that made up my thesis exhibition and how circumstances surrounding the coronavirus pandemic altered the original intention of the exhibition. Although I was unable to have a physical exhibition, I discuss the resulting solution and the potential avenue it created for future work.
