Description In 2004, there were 19.5 MRI scanners and 29.5 CT scanners per million people in the United States. Each year, over 19,400 neuroimaging studies are performed per 100,000 Medicare beneficiaries in the USA. Over the past several decades, CT and MRI have been increasingly used as a diagnostic tool by clinicians.2 Unquestionably, CT and MR imaging allows the clinician insight into the complex anatomy and potential pathology of the head and neck.
