Description |
P557-400-748A Bridges Dedication - Glen Canyon Field Division - Utah-Arizona. Utah's Governor, Calvin L. Rampton, addresses the crowd assembled to dedicate three bridges at the upper end of Lake Powell. The ceremonies were held at the center of the Colorado River Bridge, which also dedicated the Dirty Devil River Bridge and the White Canyon Bridge. The red rock cliffs seen in the background were but a part of the spectacular scenery which has been opened to travel by these bridges. These three bridges replace the old Hite Ferry which for so many years was one of the few places on the 300 mile long Colorado River Gorge where a team and wagon could cross the river.
