Description |
Two roadswitcher type diesel unit of the Denver and Rio Grande Western RR at Helper, Utah in August of 1962. 5306 is an SD-9 type unit of 1750 horsepower while the 2nd unit is 5300, an SD-7 type unit of 1500 horsepower. These units were used in local freight and Helper service especially on coal trains. Both locomotives were built by Electro Motive Division of General Motors (G.M.). S.D. stands for "Special Duty".
